Beautiful Piece with Tons of Character! Featuring Cherubs, Grapes, Berries, Flowers, Leaves and Vines in Relief. Finial on Lid has figural of Man holding a cup while sitting in a circle of Embossed Berries and Leaves. Multiple Bands of Laurel Wreaths and Scrolled Detail encircle the Tureen. Double Handles feature an Embossed Leaf and Branch design and creates an arch above a Grape Patch. Extending outwards from the Grape Patches are Berries, Leaves, Flowers and Vines in Relief. Cherubs frame embossed panels that contain German Language. Here is a rough interpretation of the words. Words from photo #2… Worriers are worried about life and worry breakers are the vines. Words from photo #6… Color is Deep Burgundy and Green on a Tan Background. 15″ tall x 11″ handle to handle x 7 dia. At opening and 6.5 in dia. Marked with number 281 on bottom. May be other characters present but unable to decipher. Has two spots of crazing on top of lid with some crazing under lid, some staining to interior pot. Otherwise excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Marzi & Remy Antique Lidded Mug German Beer Stein – Street Orchestra circa 1920’s. This beer stein has been made in Germany around 1920’s by Marzi & Remy. Has transfer scene (PUG) in the middle. Stein in perfect condition out of damage. The firm of Marzi & Remy was founded in the Westerwald town of Höhr in 1879 by Anton Marzi and Simon Peter Remy. By the end of the 19th century M&R employed more than 100 workers and had become one of Germanys leading stoneware producers. Although it managed to survive two World Wars, the company found itself unable to cope with the rapidly changing marketplace of the late 20th century and was forced to permanently close its doors in 1994. Antique Ruby Red German Bohemian Stone-Cut Glass Beer Stein w/Inlaid Lid c. Description: Presented is a beautiful ruby red glass German beer stein with inlaid pewter lid with fantastic decorations created in the 1850s – 1860s in the German controlled Bohemia (now Czech Republic). The body of the stein is made of hand-blown Bohemian crystal glass with applied handle. It was flashed with ruby-red translucent layer. The glass then was cut on a stone wheel to create beautiful decorations giving a wonderful optical. The lid is pewter with matching glass inlay of the same technique and color. The lid is pewter with the above mentioned inlay and the thumblift in form of a lyre – apparently, the owner was a musician who made a special order for the lid. The hinge is small five-ring closed type, this type of the hinge was used in the mid-1800s. The stein is in excellent condition, with no lines, chips or repairs.
