This beer stein has been made in Germany in 1860. This type a stein collectors called “Regensburg”, by the name of the region where it was first produced, even though the majority were made in Westerwald. These steins were press-molded to a wooden form, they were turned afterwards to make the insides round, then they were fired and the salt was applied to create the very solid surface. This stein has three panels decorating the body. Stein in great condition, without damage. Name on top of the lid is faded and not legible to my eyes aside from a few letters and 1860. Stands in at 6 1/4 tall. Straight from the estate of a well-known military antique collector which includes several rare badges, medals, generals uniforms, helmets and swords.
