Antique Merkelbach & Wick German Beer Stein Couple Drinking Un-numbered – 1 Liter. This is a beautiful Merchelbach & Wick beer stein from the late 19. There is no model number so Im unable to identify the mold name. The hand painted raised relief scene shows a man with his dog sitting in either a kitchen or tavern talking with a woman who is drinking a beer. The scene is highlighted by a deep forest green background color with floral motif around the rest of the stein. The pewter lid is nicely decorated with decorative thumb lift that is typical of Merkerlbach & Wick of this period. The stein is in very good antique condition with good retention of the color and only some minor signs of normal wear. The stein has no chips, cracks. There is some minor crazing. The lid is in very good. Shape with a beautiful patina, fits tightly, and operates smoothly there are a couple minor nicks on the rim. It measures 11″ to the top of the finial and 4 1/2″ across the bottom and holds 1 Liter. This would make a great gift or addition to your collection. I have not cleaned/repaired this with anything more than a soft cloth.
