Antique Pressed Glass Enameled German Stein Wedding Anniversary w/Inlaid Lid c. Description: This beautiful stein was made around the early 1900s. It was made of pressed glass with molded facets that were decorated by hand with colorful enamels in white, green and gold. The lid is pewter with porcelain relief inlay showing two holding hands with flowers and inscription: “Zum Andenken” – “For the memory”. The holding hands were ususally traditional German symbol of marrige – the stein was made as a wedding gift. It was very common to give beer steins as a wedding gift or wedding anniversaries gift. The steins were quite expensive at the time and considered a valueable gifts. The inscription in the front medallion says: “Zur Erinnerung” – which is basically the same – “For the memory”.
