Up for sale is a wonderful vintage antique German porcelain beer Stein titled Munich child with a super desirable Bavaria Statue Lithophane with the Ruhmeshalle behind it. The statue is a well-known symbol of Munich and Bavaria, towering over the Theresienwiese, the grounds of the famous Oktoberfest. What screams Barvaria more than that? Stein stands about 8 tall. And is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, damage, or repairs. These seem to be hard to find.

Antique German Pewter Character Beer Stein – Munich Child c. This very interesting German beer stein belongs to the family of character steins – steins made in a shape of an object or person. They are also called “figural”. The stein presented is a “character” stein – made in the form of Munich Child, the symbol of the city of Munich. Created as the coat-of-arms or archival seal of Munich in 1239, the centrally depicted Münchner Kindl (Munich Child) has evolved from a hooded monk standing in front of Munich’s gate to a charming child and symbol of the city. The Child is holding a beer stein and a radish – this was a very popular beer snack in old Germany. The Munich Child character steins are probably the most common character steins ever. However, the all pewter character steins are quite rare. I’ve seen many pewter monks beer steins and also some other characters but this is the first time I see Munich Child. The stein is in excellent condition there is no breaks, tears or dings. The pewter is quite solid. It is 8 tall, 0,5L capacity. Year: 1 880 s. Get images that make Supersized seem small. German ceramic, etched, 1/2 L, inlaid lid. No text on this specimen. By Mettlach – date code 02 = 121 years old. Condition and Description: Overall in excellent condition (pewter strap has slight looseness, though lid sits perfectly flush when left at rest, exactly as pictured). Antique German Lichtinger Beer Stein Munich Munchen Child Figural Character
A wonderful addition to any collection. This stein looks to be in excellent condition. I see no chips, cracks or repairs. Some spots aren’t as glossy as others, and other signs of age. The lid works great and sits perfectly. It is approximately 5.5 tall(maybe a little less). Color in Person may vary from pictures due to lighting and screen settings.
