Antique German engraved cut ruby glass beer stein, dated 1877 Bohemian w lid
Beautiful piece that displays very well, has some minor flaws. Small chip in the glass lid near the edge. There is an impact mark or surface chip just right of the bottom handle joint. There is a small flake/chip on the bottom edge of one of the side panels. Lid fits squarely and looks nice but is a bit’loose’ when open. There are two flea bite chips on the top rim, otherwise it is smooth. Expected shelf wear and scratching on the bottom. Looks great on the shelf, no cracks, no repairs or modifications. Direct from a local estate, please study photos and send any questions you might have.

Antique Early Pewter Engraved German Beer Stein Walzenkrug Saxonian dat. 1785
Antique Early Pewter Engraved German Beer Stein Walzenkrug Saxonian dat. Description: This very interesting and impressive beer stein was made in Germany in the early 1800s. It is a so-called “Walzenkrug” – a cylindrical form beer drinking vessel that was very popular in 1700s. The thumblift is a hollow ball – please note that the hollow balls for the thumblift is a very good sign of authenticity. They never made solid balls for the thumblift before 1850 – 1860 and there is no repros with hollow balls – I guess it is very hard to reproduce. The form of the base and the lid is usually associated with Saxonian pewter tradition. The stein is elaborately engraved all over. It has a large Saxonian Coat-of-Arms engraved on the front with Saxonian Royal crown and floral de corations on the sides. Beautiful and skillful work of art. The lid is engraved with initials M. It is fully marked with pewterer’s and town marks for Carl Gottfried Klemm jr. A pewterer who became master in 1758 and inherited the shop from his father who established it in 1708 in Reichenbach, Saxony. I have provided a sc an of his pewter touch marks from the E. Hintze monumental work on German pewter marks see my last pic. The stein is in incredibly good condition – it has some very minimal dings but no damage whatsoever – a rare condition for beer steins this old. It is practically impossible to fake the touch marks of a real pewterer from the period. I have been collecting beer steins for many years and I can stand behind my words. The stein is large and impressive, it is 9 tall, about 1L capacity. Title: Antique Pewter German Beer Stein Wlazenkrug Saxonian c. Get images that make Supersized seem small. Track Page Views With.

Antique Early German Bavarian Pewter Beer Stein Walzenkrug Engraved dat. 1796
Antique German Bavarian Pewter Beer Stein Walzenkrug Engraved dat. Description: This very interesting and impressive beer stein was made in Germany about 200 years ago or more. It comes into the “Early” category – German beer stein manufactured before 1850 – the time of industrialization. Steins made before the industrial age were made and decorated by hand with every piece unique and special. It is a so-called “Walzenkrug” – a cylindrical form beer drinking vessel that was very popular in the 1700s – early 1800s. The thumblift is a hollow ball – please note that the hollow balls for the thumblift are a very good sign of authenticity. They never made solid balls for the thumblift before 1850 – 1860 and there are no repros with hollow balls – I guess it is very hard to reproduce. The lid of the stein is engraved with the original owner’s initials F. The inside of the lid shows the pewterer’s marks. The marks belong to Johann Adam Herold (or Herolt) who became a master in 1787 worked in the Bavarian town of Hof in the late 1700s. In fact, half of the pewterers ever worked in Hof had a family name Herold. The other half were Hohenners. I have in my inventory another beer stein fron Hof – it is dated 1836 and is the occupational shoemaker’s stein. The stein is in a very good condition – the pewter is very solid, there are some very minor age-related dings and scratches, but there is no major dents, damages or repairs whatsoever. Please note – the stein is an authentic original pewter drinking vessel from the late 1700s. The maker and the place are properly determined. The stein is 10.25 tall, 1L capacity. Height: 10.25 in. Large Antique Engraved Early German Pewter Beer Stein/Screw Bottle Marked c. Description: This very interesting antique object – pewter screw bottle was made in the early 1800s, it is about 200+ years old. This is a very traditional drinking vessel – a type that was produced for over centuries, from the mid-1600s to mid-1800s. It could be used as a beer or water or even a soup container when it was supposed to be transported. They were made of pewter, stoneware and sometimes of serpentine stone. This particular bottle is a very large one – I have rarely seen such a gigantic vessel. It measures 11 tall with the ring down and holds about 3 liter or 3 quarts. The bottle imade in a slightly tapered round shape with a fancy ring in the lid. It is engraved with a presentation inscription “Zum Andenken” – “For the memory”, ornate floral motifs and a medallion with a crossoatop of the abbreviation “IHS” and the initial F. ” Apparently it was a gift to (or from) a religious person or a priest – “IHS” is the Christogram for “Jesus. It is marked on the inside with the pewterer’s mark that I attribute to Anton Lachner, a pewterer in Linz, Austria, recorded as an unlicensed master. It is hard to read the mark, but the letters A. Point to this particular pewterer, the years of 1818 and 1834 are consistent with the bottle dating. The bottle is in good shape – there are some dings and dents due to the softness of metal, but no breaks and no leaks. The bottle is quite large and impressive, standing 11 tall with the handle down, 3L capacity. I guarantee the authencity. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting.
