German Regensburg Style Stoneware Pewter Mounted Half Height Beer Stein Antique
An antique German Regensburg style molded stoneware half-height beer stein, mid-to-late 19th century. Featuring drunkard in relief, framed by Gothic style lattice, with pewter base edge and lid. 6.5″h x 4.5″w x 5.5d (including handle). The molded design is overall well preserved, but the stein displays dulling and surface scratches to its pewter, scattered chips to its stoneware, and various production imperfections, such as firing fractures and pewter casting irregularities – see pictures. Additionally, the pewter base is slightly loose and can shift on the stoneware. Large Vintage German Silvertone Beer Stein Tankard- Height 11.5 – 970 grams. Size: 11.5inches in height. Diameter of the bottom is 5 5/8inches approx. Width of the unit with the handle is approx 8inches. Weight is approx 970 grams. No hallmarks that we can see, but perhaps when it is cleaned it might show up. The piece is in good shape. There is only one small “ding” on the. Side by the rim. The finial does have some damage. It has been dented in slightly. Structurally, the piece, the lid is in good shape. The piece needs a solid cleaning. It is silvertone and will need to have someone. With elbow grease Polish it up. The inside is in good shape, not great shape but good.
