Up for sale is an Antique Victorian Silverplate Cut Glass Strawberry Pattern German Beer Stein Mug from the early 1900s. The stein measures 6 & 3/4 inches to the top of the dome on the lid. The Silverplate metal work is marked TH. There is a small nick at the base of the handle which may have been caused when the area below it was cut. There are some tiny nicks on the honeycomb handle cuts and a slight film on the side of the handle when held to the light. It is engraved 0.5 L on the side. There is a face embossed on the handle. There are no cracks to the glass. There is a ton of west on the base from use.

Antique Porcelain German Beer Stein Zwiebelmuster Onion Pattern Meissen c. Description: Beautiful highly decorated porcelain beer stein made by the Meissen factory – the first European porcelain production plant that started in 1706. Overall – a fantastically decorated piece – a one of a kind treasure. Large and massive “Bierkrug” with a cylindrical body and elegant lid. Decorated with blue on whiteintricate floral motifs. This is the type of decoration is called “Zwiebelmuster” – “Onion pattern” and usually associated with Meissen porcelain. First produced under the guidance of Meissen director Johann Höroldt in 1732, the so-called “blue onion” pattern was actually an adaptation of an early oriental “tree of life” motif. In Germany, the pattern – or any of its many variations – is known as Zwiebelmuster, or “onion pattern”. Sometimes it is also called “Indisch Blau” or Indian blue, sometimes “Strohblumenmuster” or Strawflower pattern. Sometimes this pattern was called Rauenstein after a town in Thuringia where several porcelain factories were making wares with this pattern. Th ey are featured in G ary Kirsner’s “The Beer Stein Book”. I have provided a scan from the book for the reference. The stein is in excellent flawless condition, there is no damage, lines or repairs of any kind. It stays impressively 8 tall to the top of the finial, 1 L capacity. Antique 1800’s Mettlach German Beer Stein Pattern 485 Pewter Lid. Motif is of German Beer Scene with Musicians Playing Instruments and Children. The Raised People and vines are beige, the background is a sage green, and the top and bottom of the stein is cream with light brown. The handle has a pewter attachment which holds the lid to the stein. The Lid of the stain has a musician playing the violin. Beautiful condition, no cracks or chips (please see pictures). Measures 8 1/4″ tall including the pewter that holds the lid, 4 1/8″ wide, and 5 long. The Inside of the Stein is White. The Bottom is #485 with Symbol of Church and METTLACH.
