Nice quality antique early 20th century lidded German beer stein. The pewter lid has a wonderful convex-shaped porcelain insert that is painted with a Bavarian looking building or Inn. The glass has the marking of. The hinged pewter lid is mounted to a thick mold blown glass mug and is in excellent condition with no signs of chips or cracks. It measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Underside of lid is marked: MAY 1921. The glass has a 3/8 inch scratch/scrape as seen in the photos. Research indicates that RICHARD LAUTERBACH was the winner of the German Cross Country Championships in 1919 and 1920, held in Berlin. Men’s long course – sport – running – field – race.
