Large antique 1800s hand blown glass pewter German lidded beer stein mug pitcher
Up for sale is a large antique 19th century hand blown lidded German beer stein. It’s completely blown by hand into a gorgeous silhouette along with an applied handle and cut with lovely detailing. The hinged pewter lid is mounted to the applied handle and has a mythological face thumb piece. It’s in great condition and measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 6 inches long. 1919 & 1920 GERMAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPION Porcelain Glass Pewter BEER STEIN Mug
Nice quality antique early 20th century lidded German beer stein. The pewter lid has a wonderful convex-shaped porcelain insert that is painted with a Bavarian looking building or Inn. The glass has the marking of. The hinged pewter lid is mounted to a thick mold blown glass mug and is in excellent condition with no signs of chips or cracks. It measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Underside of lid is marked: MAY 1921. The glass has a 3/8 inch scratch/scrape as seen in the photos. Research indicates that RICHARD LAUTERBACH was the winner of the German Cross Country Championships in 1919 and 1920, held in Berlin. Men’s long course – sport – running – field – race. Beautiful Hand Painted German Beer Stein For a Judge Ms. Wagemann with the Mandelsloh Family Crest painted on the lid. The glass has a lot of chipping along the bottom edge where it was obviously used many times at the beer hall back in the late 1800’s. It looks to be dated from 1881/1882. The top is all hand painted. The stein is about 6 1/2 tall. Antique German/Bohemian Glass Beer Stein Red Overlay Wheel Cut c. 1860s
Antique German/Bohemian Glass Beer Stein Clear w/Red Overlay Wheel Cut c. Description: This beautiful old stein was mouth-blown of crystal glass around the 1860s. The majority of steins of this type were made in German Bohemia – now Czech Republic. It was made using a very complex and labor-intensive technique called “overlay” – a freshly-blown clear glass stein was submerged into a dark red glass to create a layer of red overlay. It was then stone-cut, creating round and oval facets that reveal the clear glass surface. The handle is attached to the red glass layer and shows the red glass layer inside the clear glass. The lid has a clear glass inlay engraved with the name “Benno”. The pewter mounts have a 5-ring closed type hinge and small feather-shaped thumblift – the typical techniques used in the 1850s – 1860s. The stein is in excellent mint condition. It is 6.25 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity Please note – the stein is overlayed with the red glass layer. It is not stained or flashed – the red glass layer is quite thick.
