Large antique 1800s hand blown glass pewter German lidded beer stein mug pitcher
Up for sale is a large antique 19th century hand blown lidded German beer stein. It’s completely blown by hand into a gorgeous silhouette along with an applied handle and cut with lovely detailing. The hinged pewter lid is mounted to the applied handle and has a mythological face thumb piece. It’s in great condition and measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 6 inches long. 1919 & 1920 GERMAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPION Porcelain Glass Pewter BEER STEIN Mug
Nice quality antique early 20th century lidded German beer stein. The pewter lid has a wonderful convex-shaped porcelain insert that is painted with a Bavarian looking building or Inn. The glass has the marking of. The hinged pewter lid is mounted to a thick mold blown glass mug and is in excellent condition with no signs of chips or cracks. It measures 6 1/2 inches tall. Underside of lid is marked: MAY 1921. The glass has a 3/8 inch scratch/scrape as seen in the photos. Research indicates that RICHARD LAUTERBACH was the winner of the German Cross Country Championships in 1919 and 1920, held in Berlin. Men’s long course – sport – running – field – race. Antique Pewter German Beer Stein/Pitcher Kanne by J. Description: Antique German pewter beer stein/pitcher from about 1860s. Classical baroque-style shape with a spout – the Germans call it “Kanne”. Please note – it may not look like a standard beer pitcher. However, it is decorated with a hops cone and hops leaves. I doubt any other vessel would be decorated this way. A sit-on, not hinged lid. A “hops cone” for the finial -typical for the beer steins/pitchers. The handle is wrapped with a leather strap for preventing the hands from slipping. Marked on the inside with J. He became a master perwterer in 1833. The stein is engarved on the front with the name M. Schreppel and dated 1865. Excellent condition – there is no tears or any damage at all, no repairs, no major dings or scratches It is 10 tall to the top of the finial, 1L capacity. Antique German Patriotic Pewter Beer Stein/Server Kaiser Wilhelm I c. Presented is a fantastic monumental German beer stein/server made in relief technique dedicated to the unification of Germany. It is made of thick heavy pewter with the body, handle and the lid made in sculptural picturesque way to hail German spirit. The front panel shows a carriage in Roman style with the Kaiser (Emperor) Wilhelm I driving it. In the back of the carriage sit German statesmen – Otto von Bismarck and Helmuth von Moltke, the architects of the creation of German Empire in 1871. Next to Kaiser is his son – Crown Prince Friedrich, the future Emperor Friedrich III. Next to the carriage we can see Emperor Charlemagne on a horse – the founder of the Holy Roman Empire. In front of him is a figure of an ancient German warrior, maybe Odoacer or Teodoric, or just a not specific ancient German warrior. On top of the whole scene is Nike – the winged goddess of victory. A group of three Cupids is flying near Nike. The rest of the body shows Coats-of-Arms of all German lands, cities and regions to show the significance of the Germany united in the Empire. The lid is toppled with the German imperial crown and the Prussian Eagle. It is engraved with a presentation inscription indicating that the stein was a gift to Herr Registator Kuekelhahn for his 25th jubilee working for the urban construction department. It was most likely created to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the unification of Germany in 1881, and the presentation inscription was made much later. I have included in my photos pictures of Wilhelm I, Friederich III and also Bismarck and Moltke. You can see that the relief portraits on the stein are made with excellent details and likeness. The stein is in an excellent condition with some minimal age-related wear but no structural damages, losses, or repairs. It’s made out of thick pottery walls and has a blue and white design done in high relief depicting figural scenes throughout. The stein has an ornate handle which is mounted with a hinged pewter lid along with a large thumb-piece. It is in great condition and measures 7 inches tall by 5 inches long.
