German Regimental Military Beer Stein 1902-04 Artillery Named-Roster-Marked #3/6
German Regimental Military Beer Stein. Some inclusions and details on this unique, personalized, and symbolic stein. Reservist Bochter; years and branch and of service; unit and garrison town. Members of Bochter’s unit are listed to each side of the handle. Cannon finial – artillery unit. Lithophane base: farewell or domestic scene. To bottom left of scene are initials and number 3/6. Liter mark at top edge. Gothic-style black text appears hand-applied. The German text beneath the art is possibly translated as. “Artillery shows itself in every enemy when pintz cannons come”. Much more German text. An experienced collector’s comments encouraged me to research and learn about this special, unique stein. I CLAIM NO EXPERTISE in ANY COLLECTIBLES, ANTIQUES, the GERMAN LANGUAGE. ALL INFORMATION in my AD is MY UNDERSTANDING of PUBLICLY FOUND & seemingly RELIABLE WEBSITES. AGAIN, details herein are my understanding – I MAY BE WRONG. Any expert input or critique is much appreciated! And my thanks to Mr RichC. I do not find the typical signs of a reproduction as detailed on reputable sites – I MAY BE WRONG. Height about 10 1/2 including lid. Porcelain portion 6 3/4″ high, 3 1/8″ diameter top, 4 1/2 diameter base. Weighs 2 pounds 2.5 ounces. As found, I just rinsed off dust, didn’t clean the metal lid. VIVID COLORS under glossy glaze. Maybe some usual age crazing. NOT SURE if LID is PEWTER or TIN (will refer to as’metal’). Metal lid topside has scuffs, scratches & is darkened with age. Metal lid underside is shiny with marks, discoloration, scuffs & shading. Lid and handle wrap seem a bit loose & wobbly, hinge appears to be in proper alignment. Lid base is a bit out of round. The finial is off-kilter with some bends to the base under cannon wheels. Overall, the lid & finial need expert adjustment, tightening, straightening & realignment. The red ring around the base, topside, has rough areas with either chipped paint or imperfect application. Base edge is unglazed, rough finish, with marks and grayish shading. Zoom in on all photos. MAIN PHOTO is a COMPOSITE of the SINGLE STEIN LISTED for SALE. ALL PHOTOS depict the single REGIMENTAL STEIN you will RECEIVE. TRACKING & ADULT SIGNATURE. No sales to foreign buyers, foreign destinations or via logistics or consolidator services.

German Regimental beer stein Wurttenberg Infantry Comp 5 Battalion 3 1910-1912
This beautiful stein is approximately 12 inches tall and is in excellent condition. Please see our photos. We have included photos of our store showcase that has all our available steins. The majority of authentic German regimental beer steins were produced between about 1890 and 1914. During this time, military service was compulsory in Germany. Most men would take basic training between 17 and 20 and then enter the reserves until age 40. A group of men would enter a unit together, stay in the same unit for training and be discharged as a unit. Rosters of names from your unit, or regiment, could be added to the steins and these became known to collectors as regimental steins. The beginning of WW I effectively ended the production of regimental steins as labor and materials were diverted to the war. We are Gannon’s Antiques and Art in Fort Myers, Florida. UNCATALOGED GIRMSCHEID Antique German Beer Stein 1 Liter GAMBRINUS & revelers
You are ordering this antique, German made, 1liter, pewter lidded beer stein in excellent condition for age. Mold number on base is 593. A search of the Beer Stein Library for this mold number or “Gambrinus, ” or the saying on the front of the stein, “Festzug des Konigs Gambrinus” does not return any hits. The key to identification is the matching of the handle design to the Westerwald Beer Stein Handle Gallery as MG 85. This suggests that this is a currently uncatalogued Matthias Girmscheid. Saying on the front translates loosely to, The pageant of King Gambrinus. Features our favorite beer symbol, King Gambrinus admiring his creation in a raised, frothing vessel while revelers dance and play music and the beer flows freely from steins and a keg. 1 liter capacity, approx. 11.5″ tall with a 4.5″ base diameter. Weighs just under 3 pounds empty. Perfect Christmas, Birthday, or anytime gift for the Mettlach, Schlitt, or antique stein fanatic in your world. Perfect décor addition to any drinking or German themed space in your home, bar, or restaurant. If you like this one, please see the “Beer Steins” section of my store for more Mettlach, antique, and collectible steins currently available. Antique Early Pewter German Beer Stein Walzenkrug Saxonian dat. 1815
Antique Early Pewter German Beer Stein Walzenkrug Saxonian dat. Hello, my dear customers! I will be out of the country from September 2nd to September 12th. Please keep this in mind! This very interesting and impressive beer stein was made in Germany in the early 1800s. It is a so-called “Walzenkrug” – a cylindrical form beer drinking vessel that was very popular in the 1700s. The thumblift is a hollow ball – please note that the hollow balls for the thumblift are a very good sign of authenticity. They never made solid balls for the thumblifts before 1850 – 1860 and there are no repros with hollow balls – I guess it is very hard to reproduce. The stein shows a plain cylindrical body with no decorations. This cylindrical body with a broad hollow base and tapered lid is associated with the Saxonian pewter tradition. For about 150 years Saxonian pewterers from Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz, and other Saxonian towns were making more or less similar pewter steins that were very popular all over Germany from the early 1700s till the 1850s. The lid is engraved with the initials J. The inside of the lid shows pewter hallmarks. These hallmarks belong to a pewterer named Johann Gottfried Bohme who worked in the Saxonian town of Dippoldiswalde in the 1700s and early 1800s. Please note that the German pewter marks of the 1700s – first half of the 1800s usually (but not necessarily always) consisted of two identical marks for a town and one personal master pewterer’s mark. The master mark for J. Bohme shows the date of 1708. This is supposed to be the date of the pewter shop establishment. However, about 50% of German master pewter marks for the period show this date. I don’t know why they put this date and the others put real dates into their marks. Probably, 1708 was the date of the pewter marking law and some of the pewterers wanted to show that their shops were started at the very beginning. The stein is in great condition – it has some very minimal dings and scratches unavoidable for the soft metal as pewter, but no breaks, tears or repairs – a rare condition for beer steins this old. The stein is large and impressive, it is 9.5 tall to the top of the thumblift, 1L capacity. Condition: Very good – no damage, no repairs, some minor dings and scratches. Height: 9.5 in.
