Antique German PorcelainCharacter Beer Stein Barrel/Keg Shape Hand Painted c. : Presented is an antique beer stein from over 150 years old. It was made in the form of a wooden keg – the stein could be categorized as the “character stein”. It was nicely and skillfully hand-painted, imitating the wooden staves with the wicker hoops. The lid is pewter with a porcelain inlay that imitates a barrel lid with a center medallion showing the inscription: “Zum Andenken” – (For the memory). The inscription is hand-painted in black and highlighted with gold. The pewter part of the lid is engraved with the name of the original owner: K. The pewter mounts with a five-ring closed-type hinge and crossed branches for the thumblift indicate the time of production around 1870s. The stein is in excellent flawless condition.
