The firm of Dümler & Breiden was formed in 1883 by Peter Dümler, already at the time an established Westerwald ceramics artist/modeler, and his brother-in-law Albert Breiden, a turner and technician who took responsibility for the production end of the business. Following Dümlers death in 1907 and the departure of Breiden just six years later, the firm continued to be operated by Dümler heirs until its closure in 1992, although beer stein production had virtually ceased by the late 1950s.
