Description: This very interesting German beer stein was made around late 1870s – The body of the stein is made of mold-blown glass with molded ribs for the perfect optical effect and hand-formed applied handle. The lid is inlaid with porcelain insert. The insert is nicely and skillfully painted porcelain miniature showing a doctor and a woman standing at the table with a plate and bottle. The stein has a three-ring open type hinge and a thumblift sitting on the lid – typical for the late 1870s. The stein is in excellent condition with no damage whatsoever, no chips, cracks or repairs. The pontil mark is polished off. Please note – the glass steins are probably the only antique steins that could be used for their original purpose – they could be washed perfectly clean.
