COLLECTION of 3 Rare German BEER STEINS High Quality Numbered Antique & Vintage
Excellent condition, high quality, beer steins. All with high relief pictures. One has the makers name imprinted on the bottom “Gerz” and the year 1862-most likely this is when they began making ceramics and not the date of this stein. Smallest one is 9″ tall and the tallest is 15″. Made from clay (stoneware), molded then painted by hand and fired in a ceramics kiln. 2 Lids are cast from Pewter and the other is a similar looking silver colored metal. The tallest one is the oldest, undated, but antique. The other two are either Vintage or Retro. NOTES ON INDIVIDUAL STEINS. Tallest one: Small chip on the clay base. Stamped 3 in blind on the bottom; no other manufacturers or numbers that I can see. Medium height: has some wear on the metal lid. Shortest one-stamped “MADE IN GERMAN” and number 4 on the bottom, and it is in excellent condition; it has light cracking on the glaze starting (this begins around 50+ years and can be seen on most old ceramics with a clear top coat glaze). Number 477 is stamped behind the handle and 051 above the handle.
