Interior base has what appears to be a production glaze pop that has started browning in that spot with age due to exposure to oxygen. Due to missing glaze, this stein would be for display only, not recommended for drinking. Nice, surviving example of this Book stein for Medical Professionals with the appropriate Hermes, figural, thumblift. Nice gilt coloration on inlay staff and serpents.
