Antique German Character Beer Stein – Monk by Reinhold Hanke Model #67 c. Description: This very interesting German beer stein belongs to the family of character steins – steins made in the shape of an object or person. They are also called “figural”. This particular one is made in the shape of a smiling monk wearing his robe. His head forms the lid. Made of the very traditional saltglazed stoneware with magenta glaze and pewter mounts. Manufactured by Re i nhold Hanke around 1880 – 1890s. Excellent flawless condition – no chips, cracks or other damage. It is 7 tall, 0,5L capacity. Get images that make Supersized seem small. Antique German Glass Beer Stein Silver Plate Lid by WMF with Bismark Portrait c. Description: Presented is a beautiful German beer stein made of hand-blown crystal glass around the late 1880s. There are stone-cut vertical facets creating wonderful optical effect, applied handle and beautiful silver-plated lid with a portrait of Bismark. Otto von Bismark (1815 – 1898) was the beloved architect and first chancellor of the German Empire. He was very popular among German military for his role in unification of Germany. The lid was manufactured by WMF or Wurtemburgische Metallwaren Fabrik – very famous for it’s Jugendstil designs and unique silverplate technique. The lid is engraved with Wilh. Ginsberg name in old German script. Excellent condition with No damage or repairs, virtually no wear to the plate. The stein is 5.5 tall to the top of the thumblift. It is 0.3L capacity. This is a great Antique Salt Glaze Westerwald. It is a 1/2 litre Beer Mug with a fancy pewter lid. I think that the decoration is of contemporary life. There is a banner with writing around the top. Something about hunger and thirst? CRUDELY MADE in a 3 piece mould and Salt glazed on a stoneware body. It is of the type made in some of the many factories in the the Westerwald area of Germany. This will most likely date from around the last half of the 1800s. Well used with a few chips around the rim. Stand 7.1/2 inches to the top of the handle. Antique German Mold Blown Glass Beer Stein Bronze Inlaid Lid with Scull – Medical Theme c. Description: This very interesting German beer stein was made around the 1880s. The body of the stein is made of mold-blown glass with molded ribs for the perfect optical effect, and hand-formed applied handle. The lid is inlaid with bronze onsert with a scull and crossed bones. But this is not a pirate’s stein – the lid is engraved with the owner’s name – Dr. Apparently, he was a medical doctor, and the scull and bones he considered as a symbol of his profession. I think the stein could be categorized as “occupational” for the medical occupation. Quite interesting and unusual item. The stein is in excellent condition with no damage whatsoever, no chips, cracks or repairs. Please note – the glass steins are probably the only antique steins that could be used for their original purpose – they could be washed perfectly clean. It’s so nice to have a good brew from about 140 years old drinking vessel! It is 7 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity. I guarantee my description and dating.
