Antique German Mold Blown Glass Beer Stein Inlaid Lid Occupational Farmer c1870s
Antique German Mold Blown Glass Beer Stein Inlaid Lid Occupational Farmer c. Description: This simple but very elegant glass stein was made in around the late 1870s. The body of the stein is made of mold-blown glass with molded facets for the perfect optical effect and hand-formed applied handle. The lid features a porcelain insert hand-painted over transfer outline with a picture a of a farmer’s land and tools with a Cupid flying over the land holding a Cornucopia – the symbol of prosperity. The stein was dedicated to the farmer’s trade – it belongs to the so-called “occupational” category of beer steins and was made for a farmer proud of his trade. The inscription reads: Hoch lebe die Oeconomie! ” – “Long live the Farmer’s trade! A beautiful porcelain miniature painting!
