Antique Military Regimental Beer Stein Hessen Fusilier Regt. #80 Hanau c. 1896
Antique Military Regimental Beer Stein Hessen Fusilier Rgmt. #80 in Hanau 1894-96. Description: Original regimental (Reservisten) stein. Belonged to Reservist Lindenberger from 7 Company of Fusilier Regiment von Gerdsdorff (Electoral Hessian) No. The Fusilier regiments were light infantry units dedicated to special tasks. The stein is very typical for the 1890s with its enamel highlighted transfer decorations, handwritten roster and designations, and massive figural lid. The finial shows an advancing soldier with his rifle (fusil) and holding a bayonet. This is a rare finial that was sometimes used specifically for the fusilier regiments. The thumblift is made in the form of an eagle – the “Reichsadler” or Imperial Eagle, the symbol of German Empire. The lid is engraved with the soldier’s name and unit: “7/80 Reservist Lindenberger 94/96″. Made of hard porcelain with lithophane in the bottom showing a romantic tavern scene. The stein is 11 tall to the top of the finial, 0.5 L capacity. Excellent condition with no cracks or chips. The lid is sitting tight. Auctiva offers Free Image Hosting and Editing.
