Antique 1901 METTLACH STEIN No 2581 SONG AND MUSIC 1/2 L German Beer Stein. The bottom is marked 2581 which means this classic is called SONG AND MUSIC. The overall condition is excellent for it’s age with no chips, flea bites, cracks or repairs found. The total size is 9.25 tall and is marked 1/2 L at the top. The codes on the bottom, besides the Villeroy & Boch/Mettlach impressed Abbey Hallmark is 2581, 10, II and 01. I believe the 01 is the year, for 1901. Below is a cut/paste about this stein from Beerstein website online. Pottery, etched, 0.5L, inlaid lid, signed by F Quidenus. This Stein also came with a music box in the bottom but this stein does NOT have that feature. I just picked up a dozen antique steins, mostly all Mettlach, and 2 pitchers as well.
