A stunning, colorful, authentic Beer Stein from Germany……. From the 1960’s. The front of the stein depicts Munich, Germany…… The side of the stein shows the four beer halls in the city of Munich… The stein has never been used and is in very good condition. The pewter top is stamped with a design to enhance the appearance of the stein. The handle is earthenware – as is the stein. Measurements are 9 1/2 tall…. Lid 2 1/2 tall…… Bottom of stein circum 3 3/4. Please see the photos for further description and condition….. Please note the sticker and numbers on the bottom of the stein….. Which reads Max Krug. Exquisite detail, right down to the jowls on the fat man. Why, for the love all, would this listing site not let me put “somewhere in the British Isles” in the “Country/Region of Manufacture” drop-down menu box thing? Same for the “Country/Region” drop-down menu. Ask pertinent questions, Get one-of-a-kind breweriana. Surname on bottom is “Bray, ” which points to the British Isles, whereas I had assumed Germany as its origin. Don’t know if Bray was artist/creator or an owner somewhere along the way. Beer Stein Engraved Pewter Lid 1 L. 11 Mid Century German FREE SHIPPING
Mid Century German Beer Stein Engraved Pewter Lid 1 L. This painted stoneware stein is embossed with text and decoration featuring a panel in which a man is greeting two women. All three are in traditional folk costume. This panel is decorated in vibrant but realistic colours. The banners flanking either side of the coloured panel feature the following text. Sind die besten Zeityertreiber. Gutes Bier u junge Weiber. Securely fastened to the handle is an ornate pewter lid. The base is backstamped: Made in Germany. 1L embossed in top band of stoneware, and 718 embossed both on base and on the body beneath the handle. The stoneware portion stands about 8-5/8 inches tall. The lid is about 2-1/2 in height. Altogether, this piece stands about 11 tall. It is about 4-12″ diameter at the base, and measures about 5-1/4″ in width at the widest part of handle. It was a mantle display piece only and n. Ever used as a drinking vessel. It was brought back from Germany in the late 1950s. It is in excellent condition: No chips, cracks, crazing, paint loss, scratches or other visible flaws. Ours is a smoke free home.
