Rare Antique German Faience Stoneware with Pewter Lid Beer Stein Blue White Brown
Rare Antique German Faience Stoneware w/ Pewter Lid Beer Stein Blue White Brown. This is a very old beer stein from our German mother’s estate. Before she inherited it, it was displayed in our grandmother’s living room in Munich since at least 1950 and most likely much longer. The stein was manufactured in the town of Bayreuth in Bavaria, Germany. Mark on the bottom represents Frankel & Schreck who owned the factory and used the mark in 1747. The church depicted on the pewter lid is the Pfarrkirche in Haidhausen. Information about this church in Munich dates back to the 9th Century. Condition of the stein is quite good for its age. The handle and rim at the top show wear. There is a hairline crack on the inside going about 2 inches down from the rim. The crack does not go through to the outside. Measures 5.25 inches tall.
