For sale here is great looking Pre WW1 Imperial German Lidded Beer Stein. This stein appears to be for a Pioneer Company that specializes in port and bridge construction. The lid of the stein features a soldier holding a shovel and an anchor. There is also a lion holding a Bayern shield. The lid also has several long inscriptions on it that seem to say “The Brother pushes the glass, long live the reserve man”, and “The one who has served faithfully has dedicated himself to a full glass”. The stein is unit marked Kgl. Pionier Bataillon 1, Comp. The lower rim of the stein appears to be named to Josef Skieswinner. The painted portion of the stein has a large anchor in the center with the number 3 on it. There are pictures of Kaiser Wilhelm and the Regent Prince of Bayern. There are scenes of the pioneers building a bridge underneath of a zeppelin, and a nearly complete bridge on the other side. Interestingly, there appears to be a full roster that lists Unteroffiziers and Pioniers. Most of the paint is in great condition, and everything is legible and clear. The stein is in great shape with some tarnish to the lid, which appears to be a bit off center when it closes. There is a rather large chip in the bottom just before the J of Josef. Inside, the bottom of the stein has one stain, and there is a great relief of a uniformed officer when looked through. This is a beauty! Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
