We are offering an original Bohemian ruby cut to clear c. 1890 0.5L beer stein with glass convex lid. The detail on this stein is incredible especially the detail of the two buildings on each side. Vintage Pewter Lidded German Musical Beer Stein #20 Lift and Play Music Box 13
This listing is for the vintage pewter lidded German Musical Beer Stein shown. It is approximately 13 inches high 2 liter? , has an ornamental design pewter lid and a beautiful hand painted, deeply embossed graphic design depicting folks dancing on a cobalt blue background. One band is decorate with edelweiss flowers and the elaborate base band is ruffled. It is in excellent vintage condition with no significant faults found. There are no chips, cracks or crazing on the stein. The musical box fuctions as it is intended and plays a clearly audible tune. Pewter stein depicting the imperial Prussian eagIe. The body of the stein bears the five royal coats of arms of the kingdoms within the Reich, with Prussia in the center. It also has the crests of the other 19 principalities. Engraved on the rim as a gift from an aunt and uncle. 12 tall In very good condition.

You are ordering this antique, German made, 1liter, pewter lidded beer stein in excellent condition for age. Mold number on base is 593. A search of the Beer Stein Library for this mold number or “Gambrinus, ” or the saying on the front of the stein, “Festzug des Konigs Gambrinus” does not return any hits. The key to identification is the matching of the handle design to the Westerwald Beer Stein Handle Gallery as MG 85. This suggests that this is a currently uncatalogued Matthias Girmscheid. Saying on the front translates loosely to, The pageant of King Gambrinus. Features our favorite beer symbol, King Gambrinus admiring his creation in a raised, frothing vessel while revelers dance and play music and the beer flows freely from steins and a keg. 1 liter capacity, approx. 11.5″ tall with a 4.5″ base diameter. Antique German Jugendstil Art Nouveau Beer Stein Steinzeug Coblenz #123 c. Description: This beautiful stein was made around late 1910. Very typical Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) style. Jugendstil beer stein of Steinzeug Industrie Coblenz were designed mostly by two prominent Jugendstil designers – Leonhard Hellmuth and Carl Moos. The steins made by this company are not very common but highly collectable. It was designed in a very specific manner that was called Jugendstil – the unique German version of Art Nouveau – the new aesthetics that took over the world in the late 1800s – early 1900s. The stein is made of saltglazed stoneware with cobalt blue glaze – the very traditional Westerwald ware in the distinctive Jugendstil aesthetics. I attribute the design to Paul Wynand – a well-know Jugendbstil ceramics deisgner who worked wth major beer stein manufacturers such us Steinzeug Coblenz, Reinhold Merkelbach, Marzi and Remy, S. Gerz and so on. But I could be wrong – it is hard to attribute, many Jugendstil designers used each other’s elemnts and patterns. 6 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
