Charming Pair German Porcelain Beer Steins Lidded Reinhold Hanke Bowling Pin
Presented is a pair of German pottery beer steins by Reinhold Hanke. This pair has a bowling pin shape which matches the bowling scene displayed on the side of the steins. In the scene, you can see bowling pins crashing to the left of a young boy. The steins have a wood grain finish. There is a pewter metal rim on the lid that attaches to a pewter thumb-lift. These steins hold a 1/2 liter. This pair is marked on the underside with “Germany” and the mold number 1134. They are also each marked 1/2 L on the side next to the thumb-lift. The steins are in great condition. There are only minor scuffs to the paint. The insides are clean and ready for use. There are no breaks and no repairs. C1897 American Sterling Silver Lidded. 5L Beer Stein German Brewing Monks Scene. Presented is a charming antique American ceramic beer stein with sterling silver lid, dating to circa 1897. This stein features a charming scene around the sides in blue and white, depicting two monks joyfully sampling liquor, against a background of the monastery’s brick walls and arched doorways, in the style of German painter Eduard von Grützner. The lid is done in sterling silver, finely hand chased with classic shell and scroll decoration, with a bold shell form thumbpiece. The top of the lid has a presentation reading Longwood Cricket Club May 1897 Lawn Tennis Tournament Handicap Club Doubles Second Prize won by H. This stein has a capacity of half a liter (500 milliliters/16.9 fluid ounces). This piece is in excellent overall condition. There is a single tiny chip around the edge of the foot, which is hard to notice without turning the stein over to inspect it. There are no other chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The sterling silver lid is in great shape, with no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The underside of the stein is signed with the maker’s mark for the Ceramic Arts Company, a renowned American art pottery company operating in Trenton, New Jersey. The sterling silver lid/thumbpiece are stamped with the maker’s mark for Gorham as well as sterling and product number, S2479. This mark is on the underside of where the thumbpiece is mounted to the handle. The stein stands about 6 3/4 inches to the top of the lid and measures about 4 1/4 inches in diameter at the base, or about 5 7/8 inches from the handle to the front.
