” Student Society Stein “. German ceramic, transfer & hand-painted, 1/2 L, pewter lid. Schauer – body dated 1891/1892. Condition and Description: Overall in very good condition, only minor condition issues of note: minimal wear, pewter strap is loose so lid has some play but sits perfectly flush when left at rest & pewter tear repair where tang meets lid (pewter tear repair shown in last pic – exactly as pictured). Oh and the thumblift is a crowned lion holding a shield. Height: 7.6 tall from base to top of thumblift. Width: 3.85 at the base. Antique Early 1900’s German Westerwald Stoneware Beer Stein 1L. Look/Read
Some glue applied inside to the cracks to reinforce together but, there is no signed of it was hit hard or drop. With monogram “Was Hael” on the lid. This stein is probably 1800’s or 19’s in our honest assessment. A nice addition to your collection or decor. At all the pictures for its full visual description and for you to see its condition for yourself. What you see is the exact item you will be receiving. Measurements: 8¼” tall top on the lid. (2.3 lb, unpack). Meaning is “be well” or “be in good health”, to which his followers would reply drink hael, or “drink well”.

Die hard collector notes: Tight line on inlay lid as photographed and in video. 2 equally tight lines on base. Color loss on base brown color from expected use and storage. Ever so slight strap support wiggle. Hinge operates as intended and lid closes on rim as intended. No rim damage and interior is great! No damage to handle Impressive size, shape, themes, and colorations.

No chips or cracks. Hinge and strap are tight and lid opens and closes as intended. Excellent coloration on inlay lid and body. Very nice, surviving example of this Book stein for Philologist with the appropriate figural, owl standing on books, thumblift. Note some some interior base discoloration and a production glaze skip on the base, as photographed. Nice graduation or anytime gift for the starting or successful Language student / Professor in your world!

Antique, stoneware, uncatalogued, master stein in very good condition for age. No large chips or cracks. One of the fine leaves has a. 25 flake with green color loss. Minor production flaws common for stoneware steins of this age. Strap and strap support have the slightest of wiggle, not unexpected for a heavy, pouring lid. Hinge operates as intended. 15.25 tall to top of figural, hops bud lid finial.

Up for sale is a nice quality antique 19th century pewter lidded glass German beer stein. It features a gorgeous silhouette along with an applied handle and has a hinged pewter lid. The lid is mounted to the applied handle, is hand engraved with initials, and has a spherical thumb piece. It’s in good condition and measures 6 3/4 inches tall by 5 3/4 inches long. No chips or cracks, It does have imperfections in the clay as one would expect. Has a manufactured flaw above the handle but this is not a crack and does not penetrate the jar.
