Marzi and Remy German Cobalt Bird Vines Lidded Beer Stein 857B. This charming Beer Stein is made of ceramic and metal. This classic Stein has wonderful German style; it features a great lidded silhouette, an interesting cobalt and white color scheme, and a brilliant motif of a bird and stylized vines decorating the piece. The Stein has the “Shield” maker’s mark for the company Marzi & Remy stamped on the bottom, see pictures. Please see photos of measurements for size/scale. The pewter lid shows some tarnish, scratches and aging imperfections, see pictures; the lid is stamped “85 / DBGM” on the inside. A vintage, possibly antique German salt glaze stoneware cobalt blue/grey beer stein with pewter lid, stamped 558. The stein features a relief of a romantic couple with a German saying above and on the sides. Good pre owned condition, there are a couple little dings to the pewter lid, a couple of little fleabites primarily on the saying, light dust – see photos. The piece measures 8.5″ to top of lid x 3.75″ in diameter at base. Stamped on rim 1/2L, stamped on side 558, stamped on bottom Germany, 558, 12. LARGE COBALT SALT-GLAZED GERMAN BEER STEIN PITCHER PEWTER LID. This is a nice early stoneware stein pitcher from Germany. It has a very deep relief design with monkeys or orangutans in the trees with acorns at the top. There is also a lizard climbing the tree at the front. The pitcher is grey salt-glazed stoneware with the typical cobalt glaze in Germany. The handle is in the shape of a tree limb. There is a pewter lid. #224 is embossed into the bottom. This is a nice large stein measuring 13-1/2″ tall and 6-3/4″ diameter at the bottom and 3-3/4 diameter at the top.
