Antique Ruby Red German Bohemian Stone-Cut Glass Beer Stein w/Inlaid Lid c. Description: Presented is a beautiful ruby red glass German beer stein with inlaid pewter lid with fantastic decorations created in the 1850s – 1860s in the German controlled Bohemia (now Czech Republic). The body of the stein is made of hand-blown Bohemian crystal glass with applied handle. It was flashed with ruby-red translucent layer. The glass then was cut on a stone wheel to create beautiful decorations giving a wonderful optical. The lid is pewter with matching glass inlay of the same technique and color. The lid is pewter with the above mentioned inlay and the thumblift in form of a lyre – apparently, the owner was a musician who made a special order for the lid. The hinge is small five-ring closed type, this type of the hinge was used in the mid-1800s. The stein is in excellent condition, with no lines, chips or repairs.
