Rare Glass German Cat Stein Katzenjammer with Pewter Lid & Gnome 3 Cat Scene
Superb German glass Stein with pewter lid and Gnome thumb lift in 1/4 liter size. Entitled Vivatsequens Katzenjammer and shows three scenes of cats with titles. Cat to left shows him with a water bottle – in German it says “a common house cat”. Front center shows a sitting cat and says “The Gray Misery”. The cat to the right side shows him with human food and water or wine and is marked “The Patch Forest Cat”. All writing is in German and the Stein has exceptional detail and age. Nice heavy and rare glass Stein – appropriate wear to bottom rim – no chips or cracks. Measures 6 1/2 inches tall to top of thumb lift. RARE GERMAN Beer Stein Prism Lid GEBHARD SCHMID Prince Luitpold 1902 Beppo
Pictured on the stein is. Luitpold Karl Joseph Wilhelm Ludwig, Prince Regent of Bavaria. (born 12 March 1821 – died 12 December 1912), the de facto ruler of Bavaria from 1886 to 1912. Gebhard Schmid’s father was Magnus Anton Schmid born Sept. 02, 1844, Lechaschau, Tirol, Austria; died June 30, 1924, Wangen-Allgau, Bavaria, Germany. Gebhard Schmid was born Dec. 24, 1882 in Germany; he died Oct. His wife was Agathe (Steib) Schmid. Gebhard Schmid’s children included Josef “Beppo” Schmid (born 1901, died 1956), a prominent figure in WWII. DESCRIPTION: Measures 9 1/2″ from base to tip of prism, top diameter is 3″, base diameter is 4 1/2″, the bottom of the stein is recessed about 1 1/8″ up from the base. Maker’s mark J. The black smudge on the bottom has since been removed. The inside of the stein has a raised symbol/flower that spans the bottom but can’t determine what it is. Colors in the lithopane scene are vivid and surrounded by German writing. Prism is perfect with sharp edges and no chips or cracks. The interior of the metal lid is lighter than the exterior. Rare German Beer Stein Stein 0.5 liter tankard Africa Corps Rommel 688/5000 COA. This is an incredible opportunity to own a rare historic beer stein to add to your collection. The certificate authenticity tells the story behind World War II German Afrika Corps being created in 1941 to support the presence of their allies, the Italians, in northern Africa. Major general Rommel took command of the operation and remained in command until the general surrendered on May 13, 1943 this beer stein is smooth, black glazed, high-quality stoneware decorated with a platinum wrap around design. Along the top border are the words “The history of the German Africa Corps”. The center of the sign displays a Pewter badge representation of the seal in bold lettering. A few hairlines in the bottom of the stein as shown in the photos. 12″ tall and 4.75″ wide at the base. There is a lithophane on the inside of the stein as well. Antique RARE 1700’s Westerwald German Salt-Glazed Stoneware Sgraffito Stein Pewter Lid Jug, Tankard 2-Liter. For your consideration is an EARLY, RARE and UNUSUAL large lidded jug or stein, made of thick salt-glazed stoneware. Original pewter lid, hinged and with a globular finial (thumb piece). Attached handle, shaped spout. Scratched (Sgraffito) ornamentation all around the body in repeating linear and dot patterns (scarce and quite uncommon Folk Art embellishments). A cobalt blue handwritten “2” marking near the handle, indicating the capacity – 2 Liters. All original, mid/late 1700’s. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS! 13″ tall with lid, 7″ wide with handle, 6 body diameter (across). Weighs about 3 lbs. Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos below. All original and unaltered. The stoneware body has no problems at all, besides some minor firing imperfections. Superb display, lid could use cleaning and/or polishing. Local Pickups Are Welcome!
