These were not made very often were usually a special request order. The clarity is incredible, and the artist reinforced the colors with coloring on the bottom. Antique Tricycle Photo Transfer Lithophane German Beer Stein Big Wheel Bicycle
Antique personalized photograph transferware 12 tall 1 Liter Lidded German Lithophane Beer Stein. The very rare and unusual one of a kind late Victorian photo shows two young children with a big wheeled tricycle. The stein is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, excessive wear or signs of previous repairs. The steins lid has no bends or dents but is slightly loose on the handle, it shows no damage so I would assume it was made this way. The lid can rock left to right on the handle slightly. The mug also shows a small spider crack in the bottom that also appears to be from manufacturing during the lithophane stamping process. The crack is in the pottery under the glaze and can not be felt on the glaze at all. Over all it appears to only been displayed and shows no signs of use at all, the photo shows excellent and hand painted gold trim only shows very slight wear. Classic German 1910 Air Force Porcelain Beer Stein Lithophane
The beer stein depicts a colorful rendition of an airfield with planes and zeppelin flying above two German soldiers, while a hot air balloon is being inflated in the background. Two German text blocks appeared to be a list of German soldiers’ names. Pewter lid top has a soaring eagle and lion with a shield. A lovely lithophane of two soldiers honoring their achievements of flying with the crest or flag of their homeland is displayed. On the bottom says ” Western.. “. Measurements are 9.5 inches tall width is 4.5 inches at the base. Estimated weight is 2.06 pounds. This piece has no chips, cracks, or any damage. It is in excellent condition.
