Antique German Stone Cut Glass Beer Stein Hand Painted Lid Lady’s Portrait c. Description: This very interesting German beer stein was made around the 1870s. The body of the stein is mold-blown glass decorated with the stone cut decorations to create many circular facets for the perfect optical effect. The lid is inlaid with porcelain insert. The insert is a nice and skillfully hand-painted over transfer outline porcelain miniature showing a charming lady’s portrait. Beautiful example of miniature painting on porcelain. The stein has a five-ring closed type hinge and squeezed ball for the thumblift – these are the clear indications of the 1870s manufacturing. It is in excellent condition with only minimal age-related wear. It is 7.5 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity. I guarantee my description and dating. Height: 7.5 in. I believe this to be from the 1950s? Great no damage, cracks , chips lid can do with a polish it looks a bit tarnished the pewter / metal? A great Display piece for your collection or to use. There is a mark in the bottome which im sure can be washed out, I havent washed this its just been behind the bar for over 30+ years Backstamped with the following germany 3055 16.
